On the October 31st, at the Pontifical Lateran University there was the Study Day entitled "Education, human rights, peace. The instruments of international action and the role of religions".

The event was organized by the above mentioned University in collaboration with the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. The initiative was placed among the preparatory events in view of the "Global Compact on education". The Global educational pact desired by Pope Francis will be signed in the Vatican on the May 14th, 2020.

The Pope Francis was present at the event. In his speech he said that peace, human dignity, inclusion and participation show how is necessary a broad educational pact that would be able to convey not only the knowledge of technical contents, but also, and above all, a human and spiritual wisdom, made of justice, righteousness, virtuous behaviour that can be put into practice. According to him, in front of the lack of peace, it is not enough to invoke freedom from war, proclaim rights or even use authority in its various forms. It is necessary, above all, to question oneself, to recover the capacity to be among people, to dialogue with them and to understand their needs. This is the most authentic way to be welcomed when we speak of peace. Dialogue is an educational criterion.

Follows the Holy Father's speech "Calligraphy for Dialogue: promoting the culture of peace through culture and art", entitled in memory of Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran (Pontifical Lateran University, 31st of October 2019)
